How long do Botox injections take to work?
You may start to notice an effect after 1-2 days of having treatment. However, this varies with each patient. The full effect can take up to 2 weeks following treatment. Which is when we will see you for a check-up to make sure everything is perfect.
How long do Botox injections last?
Each treatment lasts approximately 3 months, depending entirely on where it is treated. However, each patient will find that this varies as the effects wear off gradually. Full guidance about aftercare will be given at your appointment

What should I avoid after Botox injections?
As a non-invasive treatment, there is no downtime. However, we advise the following to avoid the spread of injectables to any neighbouring muscles: Do not lie down for 4 hours after treatment. For the next 24 hours: Do not rub or touch the area. Be gentle if you need to apply/remove make-up – do not drag the skin. No facials, no exercise, avoid extremes of temperature. You may take paracetamol if you have a headache
Are Botox injections right for me?
Having wrinkle treatments is a completely personal decision. Austin can advise and answer any questions that you may have at your consultation, here in Harley Street. There are no right or wrong times to start having treatment (preventative Botox). Is there downtime after Botox injections?
No, there is no downtime as wrinkle injections are non-invasive. However, some simple rules need to be followed to avoid any complications. These will be fully explained during your treatment

What are the bad side effects of Botox?
Wrinkle injections are an incredibly safe procedure when carried out by a medical professional. As with any treatment involving needles, there is always a risk of bruising/swelling at the injection site, but this is only temporary. Headaches can happen, but can be alleviated with paracetamol. Other side effects tend to only happen with poor injection technique or the treatment being moved by rubbing the area or lying down too soon after treatment. How much does Botox injection treatment cost?

We always stress the importance of not trying to get a cheap deal for Botox, as you will inevitably be disappointed with the results. Is Botox bad for your face?
No, when administered in a professional clinic, treatment is safe and not bad for your face at all. Treatment is not permanent, and the effects will gradually wear off as the purified protein is naturally broken down by your body
At what age should I get Botox?
At any age you choose. There is no right or wrong time to start wrinkle injections. We do not treat anyone under the age of 18

Does Botox make you look older as it wears off?
No, as your body naturally breaks down the purified protein in your face will return to its usual movement. It may feel like you look older, but this isn’t the case. This is just due to you not being used to seeing the lines again, as these lines will return now if the wrinkle injections are not kept up
How should I sleep after Botox?
You can sleep in any position after having Botox.
You should not lie down for at least 4 hours after treatment
How do you make Botox last longer?
You cannot necessarily do anything to make your Botox last significantly longer. However, by having a procedure carried out at Austin Brewer, you can be assured that we use only the very best, which is Allergan’s Botox®, which is proven to be longer-lasting than some of the other Botulinum Toxin Type A injectables. Limiting sun exposure also will help. Another consideration is to enhance your wrinkle injections with dermal fillers, which can assist in improving the lost volume that ageing causes. This will improve the overall look of rejuvenation. This procedure is sometimes called a non-surgical facelift or a liquid facelift
Why does it take Botox® 2 weeks to work?
Botox binds at the connection point between the muscle and the nerves. When this happens, the nerves tell the muscle to move, and the motor endplate of the nerves tells it to contract. Botox binds to a specific protein at the motor endplate that sends chemical messages (acetylcholine), which tells the muscle to move. This then enables Botox to stop this message from getting through, and with no chemical (acetylcholine), the muscle won’t move. So, although the binding process happens quickly, the final silencing of the chemical messenger can take longer, which is why it can take up to 2 weeks for the full effects of Botox to be noticed

How do I make sure I don’t end up with a “frozen face”?
The reason to seek wrinkle injections is not to eliminate facial movement! But to soften it. Overtreatment, which is what creates the “frozen look”, never happens with a reputable practitioner. This is also why at Austin Brewer, we treat in small amounts initially – then when we see you at your 2-week review, we can make any necessary adjustments
Does Botox® work on everyone?
Sometimes it doesn’t work, although this is quite rare. Usually, the reason why it’s not working is an inferior product or simply not enough being injected (this is largely down to cheap deals, to keep costs down)
Am I too old for Botox?
Reduction in lines and wrinkles will restore a more youthful appearance. There is no upper age limit to having an injectable treatment. Although as we get older, botox will not be enough to completely rejuvenate saggy skin and the ageing process, this is when a mix of dermal fillers and botox will be recommended
