The best dermal fillers in Bournemouth & Poole for cheeks & face

Are you looking for the best dermal fillers in Bournemouth & Poole?

Nothing looks so youthful as a face with full, round cheeks. Although many of us may resent ‘baby face’ in our early years, the difference when volume is lost in the face is considerable. Sadly, as we age the face loses its volume. This can result in a hollow, gaunt look.  But luckily you can rejuvenate the shape of your cheeks with the best dermal fillers in Bournemouth & Poole.

How do cheek dermal fillers work?

Cheeks are a central focus of the face. A flattering cheek shape can help improve the jawline or simply plump areas where cheeks have lost volume over time. Dermal fillers help revitalise your appearance by injecting hyaluronic acid to plump out the cheeks. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body and has amazing moisturising agents to improve the skin tone.

MD codes for cheeks

If your aesthetic practitioner is inexperienced or unknowledgeable, dermal fillers in the cheeks may look unnaturally ‘pillowy’. This is caused by using too much filler in the wrong areas of the face. If you are considering trying dermal fillers for the first time, ask your practitioner for an MD Code dermal filler facelift. MD codes are an innovative system to provide aesthetic practitioners with clear guidelines to achieve beautiful, natural-looking results.

What are the best dermal fillers for cheeks?

We use the best dermal fillers in Bournemouth & Poole, namely Juvederm.  All the fillers we use in our skin clinic in Bournemouth are 100% hyaluronic acid-based and biocompatible. The brand and type of dermal filler may vary according to each patient’s individual needs. We currently use Restylane and Juvéderm dermal fillers in our clinic.

How long do cheek fillers last?

Dermal fillers will last between six and eighteen months. The length of after-effects will be dependent on the amount used and the requirements of the client.

What is an 8 Point Facelift?

The new 8 Point facelift is a hot topic amongst beauty bloggers right now.  With its significant but natural effects, it’s clear to see why.  Even those who swore they would never touch a needle are trying this new non-surgical facelift. We explain how the eight-point face lift system is different and why you should try it.

You may be hesitant to try Botox in Bournemouth or dermal fillers after seeing the ‘frozen face’ results from inexperienced practitioners.  MD codes are different.  The innovative 8-point facelift takes any unpredictable guesswork out of the equation.  Dr Maio’s dermal filler system instructs aesthetic practitioners where to inject fillers to create specific changes or movement in the face.  MD codes in the 8-point facelift also provide detailed recommendations of the correct amount of filler to use.  This prevents any risk of puffy ‘pillow face’ effects.

What do MD Codes do?

The main aim of MD codes is to reverse the signs of gravity and ageing.  Dermal fillers are applied to tighten areas of the face that are starting to sag or plump areas that need more volume.
Some common areas include:

• Lifting cheekbones
• Reduce lines from the nose to the mouth
• Add symmetry
• Plump hollow areas under the eyes

This system only uses the minimal number of injections to create a youthful and natural look.

Does the 8-point facelift hurt?

You may experience a slight stinging in the areas being treated. However, the fillers are applied with an ultra-thin needle, similar to lip fillers, so the discomfort is minimal.  There is also lidocaine in the fillers.  So any minimal pain or discomfort will soon fade after the treatment is complete.

How long does an 8-point facelift last?

This cosmetic treatment procedure only takes between 45 mins to 1 hour to complete.  As each treatment is bespoke to the individual, some procedures may not need fillers in all 8 points.

The stunning results of the 8-point facelift system can last up to 18 months.  Length of results may vary depending on the type of dermal filler used and the areas which are treated.

Can Dermal Fillers help acne scars?

Even if the worst of your acne-ridden days are long gone, the evidence can remain on your face. Acne affects nearly all of us at some point but long-term physical scarring affects 20% of acne sufferers. At our skin clinic in Bournemouth, we understand that acne scarring can have deep impact on your self-esteem. Many of our patients talk about the impact of scarring has on their daily routine. But here we discuss how acne scarring can be treated with dermal fillers to help you feel confident in your own skin.

How dermal fillers treat acne scars

Dermal fillers in Bournemouth are ideal for treating specific types of acne scars. The treatment is most effective for ‘rolling’ scars (a wave-like indentation in the skin) and ‘boxcar’ scars (similar to chicken pox scars). The hyaluronic acid from the facial fillers are injected into the skin to plump the indentation. This adds volume in the skin to create a smooth surface texture.

What to expect

We recommend having an in-depth skin consultation with your facial aesthetic practitioner before starting treatment. They will discuss with you your requirements and the best type of dermal filler for your treatment. During your cosmetic treatment, your skin will be cleansed, and the dermal fillers will be injected into the desired areas. You may feel a little stinging sensation, but this discomfort is only temporary. The procedure is simple, and the results can be seen immediately.

Other cosmetic treatments for acne

If you are suffering from acne on a regular basis, try a chemical peel in Bournemouth. Chemical peels are very effective at decreasing acne breakouts and can help fade the signs of discolouration.

What are MD Codes?

MD Codes were created in Brazil by international aesthetic expert, Dr Maurico de Maio. He created a precise system to help aesthetic practitioners inject the correct type of dermal fillers in specific areas of the face to achieve an optimal and natural-looking rejuvenation.

This customised dermal filler treatment is designed especially for you. The Code system enables aesthetic practitioners to create bespoke treatments which complement your exact facial structure and proportions.

Treatment can also be optimised to your budget, by having treatment happen in stages. If you are looking for a cost-effective treatment focusing on just the eye area, Austin Brewer can plan an MD Code treatment suited to your requirements.

MD Codes for wrinkle treatments

As an innovative dermal filler technique, MD Codes may be strategically placed to both counter signs of ageing in the face and complement the natural facial composition of the individual. Your wrinkle treatment will rejuvenate sagging or wrinkled areas, but will leave you with a natural expression.

Which areas of the face are treated?

The MD Codes can be applied anywhere over the whole facial area. There are a total of 75 MD Codes to troubleshoot target areas, such as the cheeks, jawline, chin, forehead, brow line, eye area and the lips.

Are MD Codes safe?

The MD Code method is a set of guidelines for aesthetic practitioners. This methodical system ensures patients are benefiting from the safest and most effective form of cosmetic treatment. The dermal fillers we use in our skin clinic in Bournemouth are of the highest quality hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the human body. Dermal fillers and lip fillers cause only a slight, temporary discomfort.

Can dermal fillers move?

Botox vs Dermal Fillers: which is best for you?

If you have heard the term Botox vs dermal fillers, you will know that both treatments reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. But what is the difference between the two? Read on the discover how these treatments vary and which is best for you.

Botox vs Dermal fillers – what’s the difference?

Botox is the brand name for a specific type of wrinkle treatment using an intensely purified protein. This protein is injected into the muscle to relax the area and diminish the surrounding muscle activity. Botox is a great tool for targeting specific lines, such as frown lines or crows feet.

Dermal fillers work by replenishing the natural level of hyaluronic acid in the face, which decreases as we get older. Hyaluronic acid supports the skin and can be injected into the face to ‘plump’ out lines and wrinkles. This is a great method to add volume to certain parts of the face, which may have sunk due to natural aging or a high impact lifestyle. Hyaluronic acid is also the key ingredient in lip fillers in Bournemouth.

What does each treatment involve?

Both treatments are injected into the target areas with a small needle. This may result in minimal swelling or bruising (but can easily be covered with make-up, if you wish). The side effects for both treatments will soon go, usually within 24 hours. Although you may feel a little discomfort, neither Botox or dermal fillers are painful procedures.

How long do they last?

The results from Botox treatment usually lasts up to three months, but this may vary from patient to patient. The effects of dermal fillers can last up to 18 months, depending on the volume of the dermal fillers used.

Dermal fillers are a biocompatible facial filler solution that will boost your skin tone. Dermal fillers will help to boost your skin tone and can treat the following areas:

  • Lips
  • Neckline
  • Neck
  • Hands

Refresh your skin with skin needling

With little downtime and great results, our skin needling treatment has become a popular wrinkle treatment amongst many patients. Skin needling induces the skin’s self-repair mechanism by stimulating micro-injuries that trigger production of collagen within the affected areas.

Once treatment has been completed, your skin will be sensitive and may feel a little tight but after 48 hours and your skin has healed, you will notice the difference. We recommend a course of skin needling treatments for maximum benefits. This will help reduce fine lines, wrinkles and skin lacking in firmness/elasticity.

We are an authorised Dermaroller® clinic, and Austin has been trained to impeccably high standards.

Cheap Botox & Fillers? – You get what you pay for……

Cheap botox & fillers…have you been seduced by the thought of having a medical treatment done “on the cheap?”.  Have you actually thought about why it is so cheap?.  Wrinkle treatments are amazing, and can have wondrous results.  However the product used needs to be purchased from a reputable pharmacy with a prescription.  They also need to be administered by a medical professional.  You obviously care about how you look to consider a treatment, why risk possible permanent disfigurement trying to get a “cheap deal”?.

Do Face Creams ever work?…well yes and no

Do you ever think about how much you spend on the latest must-have miracle serum?.  Have you ever questioned its claims to make you look so young you’ll be asked for ID the next time you go to a bar?!.

Do you ever wonder how they work?.  Well let me save you the valuable time and money that you are wasting and say that they don’t, not really.  Now don’t get me wrong there are a lot of good products out there and they do have some benefits.  But let’s be real ladies if those lines are really niggling you.  Why not do something about it with a wrinkle treatment that actually works?.  And before you think “oh I can’t afford that” let me ask you that first question again.  Just how much money do you think you spent on those “miracle serums” over the years?.

If you’ve continued reading I’m guessing you’re intrigued

Well the fact of the matter is Botox® works.  Do I hear gasps of “Oh I want to age naturally”.  What’s so natural about all those serums we spoke about before?.  And of course that old fear of: “but it’s poison, I’m not putting that in my face”.  Ok so let’s all calm down and talk facts.

Firstly botox has been around for a very long time (see our blog on the history of Botox® for all the important historical dates and discoveries).  Secondly it was used medically before it was used as a cosmetic treatment .  Thirdly do you really think that so many people all over the world would use it if there was any significant risk?.

The risks of botox and fillers in the wrong hands

So the risks, well the most important point to raise here is that the risk is only there if you are in the wrong hands.  Namely an inexperienced, one day course newbie.   Don’t fancy being a guinea pig do you?.  Or maybe the aesthetic practitioner that offers the deal of the century?.   Well I’m here to tell you, you get what you pay for.  If the “deal” is so attractive that you really want to put your face at risk .

Some of the possible issues that can arise if injected incorrectly are: weird eyebrow movement, your face dropping on one side, eyes becoming heavy & most seriously blindness.  Not to mention not actually having any botox injected at all, and then wondering why it doesn’t last.  Not such an attractive deal – I did warn you!

So I guess what I’m trying to say is let’s be a bit realistic.   Yes you do need to do your research and spend the amount on your wrinkle treatment that is realistic to what you are asking for.  For example if you have lips that are incredibly thin, no one and I mean no one is going to give you a full voluptuous pout for 1 tube of filler, no matter what they say!

Buyer beware

You can buy some very dubious fillers on the internet and I really dread to think what is in them.  But this is the filler that is being used for those cheap deals, it doesn’t last.  You will then end up having treatment done again and again.  In the long term causing more trauma to the area, risk of infection and possible lumps appearing and unfortunately it will actually cost you more in the long run.

The real deal that you will get is when you find a fantastic and reputable facial aesthetic practitioner.  The knowledge that you are in safe hands and your interests and safety are the most important thing.  Now is that worth spending that extra £20 on?.   I’ll leave you with that thought and if you would like to know more about any Botox® in Poole or Botox in Bournemouth by a very experienced and highly qualified aesthetic practitioner, check out our facial aesthetics website, and why not have a look at our Botox® prices while you’re there too!  Austin Brewer offers free consultations 7 days a week including evenings.  Call him directly on 07823 883888

Cosmetic injectables should only be administered by the medically qualified

TreatmentsYouCanTrust.co.uk joins the debate on Cosmetic Treatment Injectables and non-medically qualified people

The following is a very informative piece by Sally Taber, Director of the Independent Healthcare Advisory Service
THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF FACIAL AESTHETIC PRACTITIONERS IN DORSET…….AUSTIN IS THE ONLY ONE REGISTERED WITH IHAS…….

TreatmentsYouCanTrust.co.uk responds to the CTIA and their stance that:

“…injectable treatments ‘botulinum toxin and dermal fillers’ are cosmetic and non-surgical and that the best placed practitioners to undertake these treatments are the Aesthetic Therapist, not on title, but on account of their diligence, immeasurable experience, knowledge and skill”

Staying safe when you have a cosmetic injectable

Injectable cosmetic treatments, such as Botox ® and dermal fillers, are a growing industry in the UK.  Over one million took place last year alone.  Treatments You Can Trust is the only form of self-regulation for the cosmetic injectable industry in the UK.  It serves to protect patients from the serious risks posed by rogue practitioners.  According to the standards and training principles for Treatments You Can Trust, which reflect the Medicines Act.

Only a doctor, dentist or registered nurse is appropriately qualified to administer injectable cosmetic treatments in the UK.

This scheme was set up to safeguard patients from the rising number of rogue providers.  And to increase the safety and well-being of patients who are considering injectable cosmetic treatments.

TreatmentsYouCanTrust.co.uk excludes beauty therapists from gaining a place on the register for several reasons.

Firstly, a practitioner administering injectable cosmetic treatments must have the ability to conduct a full medical history check.  The goal is to ascertain whether the patient is a suitable candidate for treatment.   And importantly, to be aware of any special precautions, previous medical history or current medication that may need to be considered.  Beauty therapists do not have the appropriate expertise to deal with an emergency situation.  And this puts the patient at risk if a reaction occurs.

So, who to trust for a cosmetic injectable treatment?

It is essential that aesthetic practitioners conducting injectable cosmetic treatments have advanced resuscitation skills to deal with an emergency.  Additionally, they must undergo training in facial anatomy and physiology to ensure that administered treatments achieve desired results. Whilst beauty therapists argue that they hold experience and knowledge of the skin.  The safe and competent delivery of cosmetic injectables requires a knowledge of anatomy with a clinical background.

Secondly, within the beauty industry, no professional regulatory scheme for beauty therapists exists.  Such a lack of regulation coincides with no forum for a complaints mechanism.  As such exist the professional regulators, the General Medical Council, the General Dental Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Did you know that manufacturers will not sell their toxins or fillers to beauticians?

Thirdly, and most crucially, the manufacturers of injectable cosmetic products, including dermal fillers and botulinum toxins.  Openly state that they do not recommend beauty therapists use their products. Therefore, if the manufacturers themselves are not happy to sell to beauty therapists.  Consumers should be wary of seeking treatment from them and also question their source of supply.

Finally, examples exist of beauty therapists claiming fabricated qualifications in order to lull potential clients into a false sense of security.  Such behaviour is wholly irresponsible, dangerous and ultimately does not put patient safety first. Restricting registration for TreatmentsYouCanTrust.co.uk to only doctors, dentists and registered nurses is therefore acting in the best interests of patients.

Most asked questions before injectable treatments

We have a lot of clients who come into the clinic who are new to the cosmetic treatments we offer here.  And the one thing that everyone has lots to ask is the questions before injectable treatments.  We understand, which is why we have always offered thorough consultations.  Like anything new, it can be a bit daunting, but we ensure we explain everything in great detail so that they are totally in the know and at ease with how we operate at Austin Brewer. Most of all, we make sure we manage our clients’ expectations so they get exactly the result they are after!

You may have seen my recent blog about the Cosmetic Cowboys, and raising awareness of people like this is something we are passionate about. As the only skin clinic in Bournemouth on the Treatments You Can Trust Register, you know you are in safe hands here!

So, I thought it would be useful for some of our readers – and particularly our new clients- for me to answer the most asked questions before injectable treatments that often come our way.

How much does my skin consultation cost?

Your first skin consultation is thorough. This is because we like to assess our clients case by case to discuss exactly what cosmetic treatment is right for you. We won’t offer a treatment to a potential client if we feel it is not suitable.

Do I need a skin consultation before going ahead with my treatment?

Understandably, we require a face-to-face skin consultation before treatment to assess the right approach for you. Anything that involves your face is a big decision and not something we take lightly, so having a thorough consultation to discuss every aspect of the treatment is a given at our clinic. As the only TYCT-registered skin clinic in Bournemouth, getting professional experience is closer to home than you may think.

Am I having ‘surgery’?

All of our procedures are non-surgical. This means they are not classed as surgery, and more often than not, you can get on with your day straight after your cosmetic treatment. Unlike an operation, you don’t need weeks to recover, which is a bonus!

What are the laws on non-surgical treatments?

You can read more about the guidelines on the NHS website here.

How do I know you are qualified?

Austin Brewer is a registered nurse with the NMC, the only aesthetic practitioner in Dorset registered with the Independent Healthcare Advisory Service and is fully insured with Medical Providers Hamilton Fraser.

I hope this has given you some answers you might be looking for as a new client, but if there is anything else, then please give Austin a call via the contact buttons below, and he will be happy to answer any of your questions about our treatments, including Botox in Bournemouth or book you in for a consultation.

Creative Artistry in Cosmetic Treatments

Creative Artistry in Cosmetic Treatments

I know we talk a lot about how important it is to have the appropriate qualifications and insurance in place to carry out facial aesthetics.  This is very, very important.  Read our lip filler and Botox blog for further information.  But something that is very often overlooked is the creative artistry in cosmetic treatments.

How creative is the eye and hand of your aesthetics practitioner?

This question should also be an important point to consider when having wrinkle treatments.  Sometimes it’s nice to keep those “smile” lines that make you, well, you!.  Also, to retain that important eyebrow movement so you don’t look frozen, but still with no wrinkles.

But it’s particularly important if you’re considering dermal fillers.  This is when creative artistry in cosmetic treatments is even more important.

We can all spot “bad work”, but you rarely notice the great work, and that’s the point.

When we notice that someone has had lip fillers, it’s more often than not for all the wrong reasons.  Very often, they are too large, a common mistake of the aesthetic practitioner.  By simply not looking at the patient’s other features and therefore not complementing their overall appearance, you become a walking set of lips.  Or perhaps they’re simply the wrong shape, maybe it’s a “one size fits all”, and that’s all the practitioner can do?.  Or the worst reason, too much filler anywhere is inexcusable.  Most often, purely for financial gain and not with your well-being at the forefront of the treatment.

So here’s a story about how I discovered Austin’s outstanding artistic ability…

Since I met Austin, he’s always told me that many years ago, he used to enjoy drawing.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I did think that he was probably quite good, maybe very good.  I just wasn’t quite expecting how AMAZING he truly was!

This all started a while ago when he ordered some “artist” pencils online. I was supportive and contributed a lovely sketch pad – then nothing happened….. until, out of the blue, the other day we went on a trip to our local artist supplies (I came out armed with a pad and a few pencils too, feeling rather inspired!).  And so he started.  The result was absolutely stunning, so stunning that I had to share it with you all.

And yes, this is his pencil drawing, no photo editing results here, you know!

Dermal fillers are in the wrong hands

The point that I really want to make is that in the right hands, dermal fillers can really make an amazing difference; in the wrong hands, they can look terrible, pull the face down and make it sag, which defeats the whole purpose.

We use derma fillers that are 100% Hyaluronic acid – a substance which is present in everyone already.   Your body is therefore able to break it down over a gradual period of time, so your fillers always maintain a natural look.  One of Austin’s favourite treatments to do is lips, and this is where his creativity truly excels. His technique, combined with the quality products we use, produces such beautiful and natural results that he really should be the only person to see if you are thinking of having your lips done, or any cosmetic treatment for that matter!
