Profhilo

Known as the secret weapon for many a celebrity and beauty insider.  Profhilo is a “beneath the skin” moisturiser.  It is a revolutionary hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment.  It is excellent for skin that is losing its elasticity and firmness due to ageing.  Improvements will be shown in skin tone, firmness and hydration, also lines are minimised.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo has one the highest concentrations of hylauronic  acid on the market.  The treatment will boost and hydrate your skin.  Profhilo will also remodel ageing and sagging skin.   It is an ideal treatment for rehydration rather than sculpting your face,  So if you just want to firm and improve the skin texture rather than add volume Profhilo is an ideal treatment for you.

What is Profhilo used for?

Profhilo injectable gel stimulates the activity in the dermal cell receptors, the results counteract skin laxity and improves and restores the skins firmness.  This process call “Bio-remodelling” is triggered in the skin, which then creates new and bouncy collagen and elastin.  This treatment will tackle all signs of skin ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles, crepiness and thinning dull skin.  Improvement will be seen to skin laxity as the skin rejuvenation process begins to work.

How many Profhilo treatments are needed?

Profhilo requires 2 treatments which are taken 4 weeks apart for best results.   Further treatments can be done approximately every 6 months in order to prolong the effects.

The treatment is suitable for men and women offering skin benefits for people of all ages.

So how does Profhilo work?

Profhilo is an ultra pure hyaluronic acid.  When it is injected precisely in to the upper layers of the skin, it will stimulate your collagen and elastin.  Attracting water into the deepest layers of the skin, thus providing unbeatable hydration.  Leaving you with beautifully glowing, firm and hydrated skin.

Once Profhilo is injected, the slow release of the hyaluronic acid stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin begins.  This stimulation promotes significant tissue improvement, Profhilo also has a wonderful tightening and lifting effect of the skin.

How long does Profhilo take to work?

Profhilo injections are a 2 part treatment, with the second part happening 4 weeks after the first.  In the following days after the first session your skin will be busy rejuvenating and producing the elastin and collagen needed to give you skin that is firmer and smoother.  An all round glowing complexion.  The treatment will stimulate and the second treatment will boost and ensure longevity.  Full results are only seen after the second treatment as this is when your skin really starts to show the plumping and hydrating effects, however you will definitely see changes after the first session.

What is the difference between Profhilo and dermal fillers?

The only real similarity between Profhilo and dermal fillers is that they are both made from hyaluronic acid which is injected into your skin.  Profhilo contains an exceptionally high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid, which is exceptionally pure because of the patented manufacturing process which is unique as the process does not involve the use of chemical cross-linking agents to bind the chains.

Traditional dermal fillers are all made of hyaluronic acid and all have a different viscosity, dependent on the requirements and which areas are being treated.  So a thicker filler would be used for your jawline compared to your lips for instance.
Profhilo is not a dermal filler.  It is a much thinner consistency due to the molecular chains of non-animal hyaluronic acid being formed of both high and low molecular weight.  They are fused together making them thermally stabilised and this creates a patented gel which, when injected spreads to become integrated into the skin.  It is only injected into the upper layer of the skin, as it’s not being used to fill anything, just to rehydrate the skin to enable the scaffolding effect and trigger the bio-remodellling process.

Is Profhilo better than fillers?

Essentially they are 2 different products for 2 different treatment options.  Profhilo is excellent at rejuvenating the skin texture and hydration.  Profhilo will not add any volume, but it will improve the appearance of ageing and sagging tissue with a tightening lifting effect.  Fillers are used to create volume that is lost due to ageing eg; cheeks, temples & lips. Fillers can also be used for non-surgical nose jobs and non-surgical facelifts.

Is Profhilo better than botox?

Profhilo is for restoring the texture of the skin and to re-hydrate.  Botox inhibits a muscle from moving, so a wrinkle will no longer form.

What will I look like after Profhilo injections?

There is no downtime after Profhilo treatment, you may see some small bumps at the injection site, these can take up to 24 hours to settle. Profhilo has an innovative technique with minimal injections, so treatment is quick with little discomfort.

Is Profhilo safe?

The Profhilo treatment is biocompatible, this is due to the pure and high-grade hyaluronic acid that it consists of.  It is also important to note that it is free from additives, which delivers greater reassurance of safety and reduction of side effects.  Even though there is an incredibly high content of hyaluronic acid, it has a low inflammatory profile.  Importantly Profhilo is backed by clinical studies.  As with any injectable treatment, there can be risks involved, all of which will be discussed with you at your consultation with Austin.

Am I suitable for Profhilo treatment?

Austin will discuss the Profhilo treatment including your expectations of the outcome after treatment.  He will also explain any possible side effects, with you in detail during your consultation.  Your medical history will also be taken to ensure, if you decide to go ahead with Profhilo, it is safe for you to do so.

Does Profhilo treatment hurt?

The injections are small but may sting a little.  Anaesthetic is not necessary as treatment is quick and there will possibly be only be, if any, mild discomfort.   There may be some residual tenderness, redness or needle marks at the site of injection, these will disappear in the next few days after treatment.  If you can feel any product where it has been injected please leave it alone to settle, as it will naturally disperse into your skin, do not massage.  You can resume your normal day to day activities, with some exceptions.

What to avoid after Profhilo treatment

For 48 Hours following your Profhilo treatment we recommend avoiding the following.
• Exercise
• Extremes of temperatures
• Sun exposure
• Touching the treated area – to avoid any risk of infection
• Avoid make up

How long will my Profhilo treatment last?

Everyone is unique, but as a general guide your Profhilo treatment results will last approx 6 months.

Profhilo treatment is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant or breast feeding.  Some medications and supplements can cause an increased risk of bruising which should be avoided in the days before and after your Profhilo treatment.

If you are planning to have treatment for a special occasion, we suggest having the procedure in advance as much as possible before the event.  This is for 2 reasons, firstly you will want the full effects to be showing, which with this treatment takes time, due to the treatments needing to be 4 weeks apart.   Secondly, as with any injectable treatment, there is always a risk of bruising, so leaving enough time before the event will ensure any bruising that may occur has the chance to go.

Profhilo is a great stand-alone treatment, but Profhilo works primarily on the skin quality, not muscle movement or re-creating any lost volume.  For significant lift and enhancement to the face, Profhilo is brilliant when used in conjunction with other treatments too.
