You may start to notice an effect after 1-2 days of having treatment. However, this varies with each patient. The full effect can take up to 2 weeks following treatment. Which is when we will see you for a check-up to make sure everything is perfect.
Each treatment lasts approximately 3 months, depending entirely on where it is treated. However, each patient will find this varies as the effects wear off gradually. Full guidance about aftercare will be given at your appointment

As a non-invasive treatment, there is no downtime. However, we advise the following, to avoid the spread of injectables to any neighbouring muscles: Do not lay down for 4 hours after treatment. For the next 24 hours: Do not rub or touch the area be gentle if you need to apply/remove make-up – do not drag the skin. No facials, no exercise, avoid extremes of temperature. You may take paracetamol if you have a headache
Having wrinkle treatments is a completely personal decision. Austin can advise and answer any questions that you may have at your consultation, here in Harley Street. Wrinkle injections are an incredibly safe procedure – when carried out by a medical professional. As with any treatment involving needles, there is always a risk of bruising/swelling at the injection site, but this is only temporary. Headaches can happen but can be alleviated with paracetamol. Other side effects tend to only happen with poor injection technique or the treatment being moved by rubbing the area or laying down too soon after treatment. No – as your body naturally breaks down the purified protein in your face will return to its usual movement. It may feel that you look older, but this isn’t the case. This is just due to you not being used to seeing the lines again, as these lines will return now if the wrinkle injections are not kept up
You can sleep in any position after having Botox.
You should not lie down for at least 4 hours after treatment
You cannot necessarily do anything to make your botox last significantly longer. However, by having a procedure carried out at Austin Brewer you can be assured that we use only the very best which is Allergan’s Botox® which is proven to be longer lasting than some of the other Botulinum Toxin Type A injectables. Limiting sun exposure also will help. Another consideration is to enhance your wrinkle injections with dermal fillers, which can assist in improving the lost volume that ageing causes. This will improve the look of overall rejuvenation, this procedure is sometimes called a non-surgical facelift or a liquid facelift
Botox binds at the connection point between the muscle and the nerves. When this happens the nerves tell the muscle to move and the motor endplate of the nerves tells it to contract. Botox binds to a specific protein at the motor endplate that sends chemical messages (acetylcholine) which tells the muscle to move. This then enables Botox to stop this message from getting through and with no chemical (acetylcholine) the muscle won’t move. So although the binding process happens quickly, the final silencing of the chemical messenger can take longer, which is why it can take up to 2 weeks for the full effects of Botox to be noticed
