Summer is here and the weather is glorious! But for many the summer heat can cause an embarrassing problem: excessive sweating.
Sweating in heat is a natural way the body lowers its temperature. But you may find that your level of sweat needs more control than applying deodorant or antiperspirant.
If you find your sweating has become an embarrassing or uncomfortable issue, you may be suffering from a condition called ‘hyperhidrosis’. This is when the sweat glands produce an above normal amount of sweat, even when your body doesn’t need to reduce its temperature.
Luckily, there is a simple treatment to help reduce your sweating and improve your confidence.
How to Stop Excessive Sweating
One of the most effective ways to stop excessive sweating is to inject the underarms with Botulinum toxin type A or Botox®. This prevents the nerves from supplying the eccrine glands and stops them producing sweat.
A huge advantage to this procedure is that it can be applied to any part of the body that experiences excessive sweating. This includes the underarms, feet and forehead. The effects of a hyperhidrosis treatment will wear off in time, but lasts for up to 9 months.
The Hyperhidrosis Treatments Procedure
The effectiveness of hyperhidrosis treatments may differ from patient to patient. However, clinical trials found that after treatment, 95% of patients were producing at least half the level of sweat than before treatment.
The procedure takes no more than 30 minutes to apply between 15 to 20 injections. The treatment is performed with only a tiny needle, so there is minimal discomfort.
